2019 Fed Cup: ITF Announces The Draws
LONDON: The draws for the 2019 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas were held and announced by ITF in London today – 24th June 2018. As per the Fed Cup regulations:
The two finalist nations were seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the 2019 World Group.
while all the other seeds were according to the ITF Fed Cup Nations Ranking
Founded in 1963, Fed Cup is the World Cup of Women Tennis. Being 55 years old, it is the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with 99 nations having participated in it during 2018.
The ITF Board has approved on trial basis to increase the size of the teams from four to five players in all Fed Cup groups during 2019. The objective is to give nations greater options while selecting the team. This trial has already been successfully implemented and tested during the 2018 Davis Cup World Group and Zone Groups I and II.
The 2019 Draws were as follows:
Fed Cup World Group – First round 9-10 February
- Czech Republic v Romania
- Belgium v France
- Germany v Belarus
- USA v AustraliaFed Cup World Group II – First round 9-10 February
- Switzerland v Italy
- Latvia v Slovakia
- Japan v Spain
- Netherlands v Canada

Team USA’s Fed Cup Team will host Australia in the 2019 first round, Feb. 8-9. If Rinaldi’s team wins, the U.S. would host Belarus or travel to Germany for the semifinals. Top seeds Czech Republic could await in another final. #FedCup #USTennis

The World Group dates for the 2019 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas are as follows:
- 9-10 February: World Group/World Group II – First Round
- 20-21 April: World Group semifinals – World Group/World Group II play-offs.
- 9-10 November: World Group Final
