Roger Federer has withdrawn and will not be participating in the 2021 Australian Open. This was confirmed by the tournament organisers.
The six-time champion who is suffering with two knee injuries has played the Australian Open continously since his debut in 2000. The Coronavirus affected 2020 season was mostly missed by Federer, due to having undergone two surgeries following the 2020 Australian Open, the semi-final of which he lost to Novak Djokovic.
The 39-year-old Swiss icon is expected to be back in the tennis scene post Australian Open, which will be held in February 2021.
