Peru’s Diego Elias and Egypt’s Nouran Gohar were crowned with title of the 2023-24 CIB PSA World Champions a at Cairo’s National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The PSA World Championship is an annual tournament with the biggest prize in squash, in which 128 of the world’s best players competed for a week to become World Champions.
The World No. 4 Elias is the first South American squash player to win the most prestigious trophy of squash. In 61 minutes encounter he beat World No.3 Asal with score 11-6, 11-5, 12-10.
Winning his 18th PSA title Elis was extremely happy and stated, “I just can’t believe it, it’s been a dream week since the start and I’m super happy to have my whole team here and for all the people who are supporting me back home.” He was very thankful to Canadian retired squash player Jonathon Tyler Power. Also Greg Gaultier a French former professional squash player. Elis elaborated that the mentioned had all of them made a big difference in my game and I can’t thank them enough. I also want to thank all my sponsors that have supported me all these years.

Women’s Final
An Egyptian affair, Gohar World No.2 Gohar did not let El Sherbini avail the opportunity to equal the eight World Championship title record of legendary Nicol David.
With the game score 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5 victory Gohar is the first woman since 2017 when Raneem El Welily proved better then El Sherbini at the PSA World Championships. El Sherbini’s magical form has resulted in 35 wins in a row and also reaching the final 10 times.
After the memorable win Gohar said, “Usually I show very little emotion but this means so much. I kept on saying that I don’t want to stop until I’m World Champion and I can’t really believe it.”
