Zaka Ashraf resigned as chairman PCB- Pakistan Cricket Board, during the fourth meeting of the IMC-Interim Management Committee, the body which recently was assigned the managing responsibility of PCB affairs.
During November 2023, Zaka Ashraf chairmanship tenure was extended for three-months by present interim prime minister of Pakistan, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, who is the patron of the PCB board. The resignation was announced by Zaka Ashraf, two weeks before his extension was due to end during the first week of February 2024.

Later, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, official announced that Shah Khawar, who is already the Chief Election Commissioner of the PCB would take charge of handling PCB affairs. This is till the transitional process to ensure smooth operations until the appointment of a new governing body. The deadline for the election of the chairman is 4th February, 2024.
