Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk by beating British fighter Tyson Fury became the world’s first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in 24 years. WBC is Usyk fourth title added to his existing belts of WBA, IBF and WBO.
In the bout held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Usyk knocked down Fury in the ninth round, before earning a split decision narrow win. Two judges favoured Usyk, 115-112 and 114-113, while the third judge gave it to Fury, 114-113.
After this bout Usyk has joined Mohammad Ali, Joe Louis, and Mike Tyson as the undisputed heavyweight champion. And also the first in boxing recognised in winning four major belts during the 2000 plus period. As to Fury this is first defeat in his 36-match career.
