The contested at the most engaging Rumanza Golf Course, DHA, Multan brought forth wholesome cash rewards and gratifying delight for the wonder of Pakistan’s Professional Golf Scene, Ahmed Baig. The young proponent of the golfing arena has succeeded in winning this Trophy for the second consecutive year.
1st Rumanza Open Golf Championship: Ahmed Baig Clinches Title; Rupees 12 Million Prize Money
In the course of the final round on Sunday, Ahmed Baig came up with a spectacular all round commanding game to emerge as the winner leaving behind rivals like Timon Baltl from Austria and Luke Joy from UK. His final days score card of gross 66 provided the required excellence to unshackle the efforts of international players Timon, Luke and national top professionals Matloob Ahmed, Hamza Taimur and even our best of the best Muhammed Shabbir Iqbal. Overall Ahmed ended the championship with three rounds scores of 69, 71 and 66 and an aggregate of 206, ten under par and that fetched him the 2nd Rumanza Open Golf Title.
International golfer Timon Baltl of Austria ended up as runners up with scores of 68, 72 and 70, a championship aggregate of 210,six under par and he lost the title to Ahmed Baig by a margin of six strokes .
Another international golfer Luke Joy of UK came third. His effort yielded him three rounds scores of 70, 71 and 70 and a championship aggregate of 211, five under par.
Other stalwarts of Pakistan golf who did well are Matloob Ahmed of Lahore Garrison Greens. His score for three rounds was 213, three under par which is certainly an impressive effort. Hamza Taimur Amin of Rumanza finished at 215, followed by M. Waqas of Margalla Greens at 216, M. Shabbir of Islamabad at 216, Abdul Zahoor of Multan Golf Club at 218, Munir from Rawalpindi at 219 and Wisal Khan of Peshawar at 220.
In his post victory comments, Ahmed Baig stated that the playing arena, the Rumanza Golf Course with course length extended to 7553 yards was an exacting examination for competing golf professionals that required meticulous shot placing accuracy due to the demanding fairways. The infrastructure was certainly world class.
At the conclusion of the 2nd Rumanza Open Golf Championship the prizes were awarded to the leading performers by Project Director, DHA, Multan Mr. Ahmed Rizwan Ghumman along with Mr. Fayyaz, Secretary of Rumanza Golf Club.
