At the conclusion of the first round of 3rd President DHA Golf event being held at the par 72 Defense Raya Golf and Country Club Golf Course, the ambitious one who overshadowed his artful and technically astute rivals is Major Imran with a decent first round score of gross 75, three over par. Though still in search of high honours in major golf competitions, Major Imran who plays to a handicap of eleven, thrived on a challenging day when he was up against some admittedly acclaimed opponents. His steadfast practice, as well as steady nerves, have served him well and he finds himself the front runner in a competition where his adversaries are endowed with capacious golfing talent.
As the leader board position indicates at the end of the first round, Major Imran shines as the leader but one stroke behind him at a score of gross 76 are placed four adept rivals like Waseem Azmat, Abdullah Aqib, Rana Abdul Razzaq, and the remarkable one Daniyal Lashari.
Others in the race for honours in a gross category are four competitors, Shamir Majid, Saif Hassan, Usman Akram Sahi, and Omer Khawaja bunched together at a gross score of 77, and at a score of 78 are placed Colonel Asif Mehdi, Shafiq Bhatti, and the brave girl, Parkha Ijaz. The competition looks enormously potent and the final 18 holes tussle will be vibrant.
The cut was placed after 18 holes and only 31 will compete on the final day. Others stood weeded out.
The net section leader is Salman Dilawez with a score of net 68 and also placed at net 68 are Umar Javed Sheikh, Mansoor Zaigham, and Usman Butt.
