The 4th President DHA Cup Golf concluded at the Defence Raya Golf and Country Club Golf Course. Salman Gulzar, a seven handicap golf amateur secured the Trophy by edging out sixteen years, Shahmeer Majid.
After a fearsome battle of golf playing skills and application of golfing proficiency Salman Gulzar ended the final round with a gross score of 74 and that added to his first round score of 77 gave him a Championship aggregate score of 151 and as against his 151 gross the gifted teenager Shahmeer who also managed the same score. That is where the Championship rules were enforced and as per rules, the aspirant having a better score over the last 18 holes was awarded the winning slot. And while Shahmeer had to be content with the runner up slot, the winning spotlight was on Salman Gulzar.

In the net event the winning amateur was Ata ur Rehman Badr. His flow of shot making had a touch of class and his winning score was net 133, eleven under par net. Interestingly his nearest rival Shahid also ended up at the net score of 133 and had to concede the first position to Ata, because of a better score over the last 18 holes. Third net went to Ayan Asif with a net score of 137.
The Senior Amateurs also showed exemplary form and while Umair Butt was formidably strong in his pursuit of ultimate victory, his nearest rivals Sardar Murad and Rana Nasir were effective in putting up a noteworthy fight. Final scores were Umair Butt 152 gross, Sardar Murad 154 gross and Rana Nasir 155 gross.

4th President DHA Golf Cup Golf: Shameer Majid Upfront
At a most refreshing par 72 Defence Raya Golf and Country Club Golf Course in Lahore the competitive golfing activity in the 4th President DHA Golf Cup was flawless and the champions who stood out were mostly teenagers. The Championship will conclude tomorrow on Sunday.
In a field of 132 seasoned players, teenager Shahmeer Majid excelled and unnerved and subdued his senior mates through classy hitting and impressive all round control over the challenges. With a first round score of gross 74, he appears as the leader. After the conclusion of the first round, Shahmeer is placed at a score of gross 74 and he is one stroke ahead of another masterly player, Abdullah Aqib. The final 18 holes round on Sunday promises a great battle between Shahmeer and Abdullah.
A few others in the run for honours in this championship are Salman Gulzar, placed at a gross score of 77 followed by Shahid Anwar at 78, Saim Tahir at 78, Zohaib Hassan, Ata ur Rehman and Jamal Nasir all bunched together at gross 79.
In the senior amateur category the formidable one is Umair Butt. A golfer of calibre, Umair Butt was in full control and compiled a score of gross 73. One stroke behind him is Sardar Murad at gross 74 followed by Rana Nasir at 76 and the exceptional one Haroon Shafiq, also at gross 76. Placed at a score of 78 is Asif Mehdi and four accomplished seniors, Ikram ul Haq, Waqar Ahmed, Shafiq Bhatti and Azhar Naveed are together at a score of gross 80.
