5th PTBF National Tenpin Bowling Championship: 9th – 13th January
KARACHI: 5th PTBF National Ranking Tenpin Bowling Championship-2019 will start from 9th January 2019, at Arena Bowling Alley, Karachi. The championship with a prize money Rs 300,000 will conclude on 13th January and is being organized by PTBF – Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation,
This was announced at a press conference in Karachi, attended by Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation Vice president Khawaja Ahmed Mustaqeem, along with PTBF Secretary Ijaz Ur Rehman and Aleem Agha.
Mr. Khawaja elaborated that, “PTBF had allocated this event to Virtual Axis in 2014 and in the very first year, more than 500 bowlers from across the country had participated. The inaugural edition, carried a whopping Rs 1 million cash purse, plus trophies and other valuable prizes.
He further said, that “during the 2019 edition the participation is expected to be substantial. The main attraction of the championship is the inter-school event, in which 240 school-kids from different schools of Karachi will be in action. Along with inter-school and amateur categories the Masters singles, inter-schools, trios, amateurs and media categories will also be held from 10th January 2019.”
The championship main objective is to provide quality and competitive competitions to bowlers. Therefore the entry fee is Rs 5000.
The participants include:
3-time national champion Ijaz is the top seed,
former national champion, Saleem Baig, Shabbir Lashkarwala, Ali Suria, Aleem Agha, Khawaja Ahmed Mustaqeem, Danish Bakhsi, Fazil Mania,
While the national champion Sardar Ahmer Abbas Saldera will miss the event, as he is completing his studies in United Kingdom.
The PTBF officials announced that to enable players to becomes internationally competitive the follows steps have been taken:
for the very first time in history of Pakistan tenpin, each player will be given 24 games each, to provide them an opportunity to be able to compete at international level,
for the first time, oiling machine is being used,
top 10 kids from schools will be included in amateur category, who will be provided training and then on merit sent them abroad for international events.
from this tournament a policy is being adopted, according to which only players who have taken part in national ranking tournaments would be eligible to play in international events.
