LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation named the 18 players squad on Thursday for the upcoming World Hockey League semi-final round to be played from June 15 in London. The league is the qualifying round of the Hockey World Cup to be played in 2018. Ten teams from across the world would be taking part in the event and only seven teams would qualify for the World Cup.
The national team consists of:

– Mazhar Abbas (goalkeepers),
– Abdul Haseem Khan (Captain),
– Umar Bhutta ( Vice Captain),
– Nawaz Ashfaq,
– Aleem Bilal,
– Abubakr Mahmood,
– M. Rizwan Junior,
– Atif Mushtaq,
– Tasawwar Abbas (defenders/halfbacks),
– Ammad Shakeel Butt (defenders/halfbacks),
– Umar Bhutta (forward),
– M. Irfan Junior (forward),
– Arslan Qadir (forward),
– Ali Shan (forward),
– M. Dilber (forward),
– Ejaz Ahmed (forward),
– Abdul Haseem Khan (forward),
– Azfar Yaqoob (forward) and
– Umair Sarfraz (forward).
PHF Secretary Shahbaz Ahmad said that the national team is a mixture of experience and youth and it has the ability to produce good result. He added that Mr. Shahbaz said the PHF was striving hard for the cause of hockey and efforts were being made to strengthen the base of the game to secure country’s future in the game.
