Bangladesh Vs Ireland – Only Test; Day Four
Ireland’s last three wickets failed to add a decent sum to their overnight score, to be all out for 292. They were quickly sent back by Bangladesh bowlers, adding only 6 runs in less than four overs. Their main hope Andy McBrine could add only one run to his previous score and was bowled by Ebadot Hussain for 72. Set a target of 138, Bangladesh briskly rattled up the required runs in 27.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim followed up his first innings century with 51 not-out at a scoring rate of over a hundred. He was also declared Player of the Match.
Ireland have performed decently on their tour of Bangladesh, winning a T20I and not too bad a performance in the only Test. As per statements of Ireland players, 7 of whom made their debut in this Test, it requires a change of mindset to perform at the Test level as mechanics in this format are much more different from the limited overs cricket in which Ireland have mostly played. They expressed hope that learning from this experience, they will try to build upon the basics and perform well in the times to come in this format.
