Pakistan’s football defender Abdullah Iqbal has been picked up by Swedish top tier league team Mjällby AIF.
Iqbal who has played for Denmark’s Boldklubben af 1893, commonly known as B.93.
since 2021 has been officially confirmed on Mjällby AIF’s website. It announces that Mjällby AIF welcomes Abdullah Iqbal to the team with a contract until the 2028 season and his addition as a new centre-back would strengthen the squad.
The 22 year-old is a replacement for Colin Rösler who has been sold to Allsvenskan big club Malmö FF.
Sporting director Hasse Larsson commented, “Abdullah is a player that we have had our eye on for a longer period and that we identified would clearly fit into our way of working on and off the field. He is a very strong, physical and fast centre-back with a very fine left foot. I would like to warmly welcome Abdullah to Mjällby AIF.”
According to reports, Mjällby AIF is paying €200,000 to Iqbal which is a major upward increase in his market value.
Abdullah Iqbal due to his strong defensive skills has been a pivotal player for the Pakistan national team. He has played 14 international matches and captained the team in two matches.
