Wimbledon Open 2018 Highlights: Day 2 – 2nd Half

Allsportspk presents to you the qualifying matches of Wimbledon Open 2018. The players that will qualify from these rounds, will play in the main draw matches starting from          2 July – 15 July.

Women’s Single

Match: Antonia Lottner vs Irina Falconi

Summary: The German star, Antonia Lottner showed an outclass performance throughout the match. Irina Falconi struggled hard in both the sets and eventually failed to win them as she was losing points in a quick succession.

Result: Antonia Lottner defeated Irina Falconi by 6-2, 6-3. Antonia Lottner will now face Bianca Andreescu in her next round of Wimbledon Open 2018.  

Match: Barbora Stefkova vs Veronika Kudermetova

Summary: Both the players gave an outclass performance in both the sets. Although, Barbora Stefkova faced a humiliating defeat in the first set but she managed to win the next set after a tough fight. In the decisive set, Barbora Stefkova didn’t let Veronika to score more than a point and eventually won the last set.

Result: Barbora Stefkova defeated Veronika Kudermetova by 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Barbora Stefkova will now play against Conny Perrin in her next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Mariana Duque-Marino vs Richel Hogenkamp

Summary: Richel Hogenkamp put up a great fight in the first set, but unfortunately she lost it in the end when Mariana Duque-Marino scored the last two points in a quick succession. However, in the next set, Mariana gave an exquisite performance as she won it by 6-1.

Result: Mariana Duque-Marino defeated Richel Hogenkamp by 6-4, 6-1. Mariana Duque-Marino will now play against Eugenie Bouchard in the next round of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Vitalia Diatchenko vs Ankita Raina

Summary: Both the players gave an absolute and outclass performance throughout the match. Vitalia Diatchenko won the first set easily by two points, but she failed to win the next set as Ankita Raina scored the last two points first. In the deciding set, Vitalia Diatchenko sealed the win in the end with a powerful backhand shot.


Result: Vitalia Diatchenko defeated Ankita Raina by 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Vitalia Diatchenko will now play against Sofya Zhuk in the next round of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Nicole Gibbs vs Martina Trevisan

Summary: The American, Nicole Gibbs played very well in both the sets as she dominated Martina easily in both the sets. On the other hand, Martina gave a very bad performance as she was constantly losing points on her serve.

Result: Nicole Gibbs defeated Martina Trevisan by 6-2, 6-3. Nicole Gibbs will now play against Claire Liu in the next round of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Mona Barthel vs Oceane Dodin

Summary: It was an exciting match to watch as Mona Barthel and Oceane Dodin fought till the end of each set. Although, Mona Barthel won the first easily but she faced a humiliating defeat in the next set as she was only able to score a point throughout the set. A tough fight was seen in the deciding set and eventually, Mona Barthel won it by two points.

Result: Mona Barthel defeated Oceane Dodin by 6-3, 1-6, 8-6. Mona Barthel will now play against Jamie Loeb in her next round.

Match: Sara Sorribes Tormo vs Marie Bouzkova

Summary: Sara Sorribes Tormo again gave an exquisite performance against Marie Bouzkova today throughout the match. Marie Bouzkova easily lost the first set but she played well in the next set. After a tough fight in the second set, Sara Sorribes Tormo again sealed her win in the end by scoring the last point first.

Result: Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated Marie Bouzkova by 6-2, 7-6.

 

Match: Viktoriya Tomova vs Ayano Shimizu

Summary: Ayano Shimizu faced defeat in the opening set but she came back in action in the second set and eventually won it by two points. In the third set, Viktoriya Tomova showed an absolute and dazzling performance as she didn’t let Ayano Shimizu to score a single point throughout the set.

Result: Viktoriya Tomova defeated Ayano Shimizu by 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. Viktoriya Tomova will now play against Anna Kalinskaya in her next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

 

Match: Vera Zvonareva vs Sabina Sharipova

Summary: Both the players put up a great fight in the opening set of the match as it came to a tie-breaker. But in the end Vera Zvonareva claimed her victory as Sabina Sharipova lost some points on her serve. However, in the second set Vera Zvonareva didn’t let Sabina Sharipova to score more than two points and won this set easily.

Result: Vera Zvonareva defeated Sabina Sharipova by 7-6(3), 6-2. Vera Zvonareva will now face Caroline Dolehide in her next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Conny Perrin vs Irina Bara

Summary: An exquisite performance was witnessed by Conny Perrin as she scored many points on aces. Irina Bara put up a good fight in the first set, but she failed to win it in the end. In the next set, Conny Perrin again sealed her win as Irina Bara failed to score the last two points first.

Result: Conny Perrin defeated Irina Bara by 6-3, 6-4. Conny Perrin will now play against Barbora Stefkova in the next round.

 

Match: Claire Liu vs Lizette Cabrera

Summary: What an absolute and breathtaking performance was witnessed by Claire Liu and Lizette Cabrera throughout the match. Claire Liu won the first set but Lizette Cabrera replied to her by winning the next set. The match came to the decider in which,Claire Liu performed very well and eventually won the third set too.

Result: Claire Liu defeated Lizette Cabrera by 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Claire Liu will now play against Nicole Gibbs in the next round of Wimbledon Open.

 

Women’s Doubles

Match: Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Kalinskaya vs Ellen Perez and Desirae Krawczyk

Summary: Although, Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Kalinskaya faced defeat in the first set, but they came back in action in the second set and dominated their opponents in it. The match came to the decider and both the pairs performed very well. Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Kalinskaya eventually sealed their win and advanced to the next round.

Result: Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Kalinskaya defeated Ellen Perez and Desirae Krawczyk by 4-6, 7-6, 8-6. Viktoria Kuzmova and Anna Kalinskaya will now play against Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe in their next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

 

Match: Maryna Zanevska and Arina Rodionova vs Rebecca Peterson and Jamie Loeb

Summary: Despite winning the first set, Rebecca Peterson and Jamie Loeb failed to perform well in the next set and eventually lost it by one points in the end. In the decisive set, Maryna Zanevska and Arina Rodionova took the lead and their opponents failed to recover it which ended in their loss.

Result: Maryna Zanevska and Arina Rodionova defeated Rebecca Peterson and Jamie Loeb by 2-6, 7-6, 6-3. Maryna Zanevska and Arina Rodionova will now play against Fanny Stollar and Georgina Garcia Perez in their next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

 

Match: Bibiane Schoofs and Ysaline Bonaventure vs Caroline Dolehide and Eugenie Bouchard

Summary: Bibiane Schoofs and Ysaline Bonaventure won the first set by two points as Caroline Dolehide and Eugenie Bouchard failed to recover the lead. However, in the second set, Caroline Dolehide and Eugenie Bouchard struggled hard and fought till the end but again Bibiane Schoofs and Ysaline Bonaventure eventually sealed their win and made it to the next round.

Result: Bibiane Schoofs and Ysaline Bonaventure defeated Caroline Dolehide and Eugenie Bouchard by 7-5, 6-2. Bibiane Schoofs and Ysaline Bonaventure will now play against Nicola Geuer and Viktorija Golubic in their next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

Match: Georgina Garcia Perez and Fanny Stollar vs Olivia Nicholls and Sarah Beth Gray

Summary: Olivia Nicholls and Sarah Beth Gray gave a very tough in the first set but unfortunately they failed to score the last two points first. However, despite taking the lead in the next set, Olivia Nicholls and Sarah Beth Gray failed to win this set in the end and eventually lost the match to Georgina Garcia Perez and Fanny Stollar.

Result: Georgina Garcia Perez and Fanny Stollar defeated Olivia Nicholls and Sarah Beth Gray by 6-4, 6-3. Georgina Garcia Perez and Fanny Stollar will now play against Arina Rodionova and Maryna Zanevska in their next match of Wimbledon Open 2018.

 

Men’s Doubles

Match: Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies vs Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen

Summary: Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies played brilliantly in the first set as they easily dominated Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen by three points in it. In the next set, after a very tough fight, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies eventually won it in the end when Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen dropped the last point on the serve.

Result: Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies defeated Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen by 6-3, 7-6. Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies are now qualified for the Wimbledon Open 2018.

 

Match: Andre Begemann and Yasutaka Uchiyama vs Hsieh Cheng-peng and Ariel Behar

Summary: Although, Andre Begemann and Yasutaka Uchiyama won the first set by scoring two points in the end, but Hsieh Cheng-peng and Ariel Behar replied to them by claiming the victory in the next set. In the decisive set, Andre Begemann and Yasutaka Uchiyama won after a tough fight and proceeded to the next round.

Result: Andre Begemann and Yasutaka Uchiyama defeated Hsieh Cheng-peng and Ariel Behar by 6-4, 6-7, 8-6. Andre Begemann and Yasutaka Uchiyama are now qualified for Wimbledon Open 2018.
