Allsportspk shares a video that shows how sport can be a great uniting force in times of suffering and sadness. And especially the manner in which the New Zealanders have shown the heart felt feelings towards the Mosque Martyrs.
An extremely difficult phase for any society to pass through, however, the manner in which the whole New Zealand nation has responded has been extremely compassionate.
An example of this was when a day after the tragedy, in a football match of Hyundai A-League between Melbourne Victory Vs Brisbane Roar, a Melbourne player – Kosta Barbarouses on scoring a goal, paid tribute to the Martyrs of the tragedy with a truly heartfelt gesture. Apart from his excellent performance, what truly made this a memorable match was his celebration by performing a ‘Sajdha’.
Kosta’s gesture was greatly appreciated on social media, with many of them calling for more of such acts that can help unite people in the currently divisive times.
A ‘Sajdah’ is a Muslim act of prostration to ALLAH swt (God) with the primary purpose of Praising and Glorifying ALLAH swt. An Arabic word “Sajdah’ it is one of the main pillars of daily prayer in Islam. While in sujud, a Muslim is to praise and glorify Allah.
It is done by Muslims usually during their daily prayers practiced five times a day.
New Zealand is currently reeling from the deadliest act of violence in its history in which 49 Muslims lost their lives as Martyers at the hand of a Supremacist terrorist who in a well-planned attack, targeted them during Friday (Jummah) prayers. The unprecedented attacks were on two mosques which are located in the city of Christchurch, in the New Zealand in which 49 people died and 20 were seriously injured.
