French Open ’19: Serena Williams Ousted In 3rd Round
FRANCE: Serena William was defeated 6-2, 7-5 in the 3rd round by the young world number 35, Sofia Kenin also from USA.
This 3rd round early exit, was a similar experience for Serena’s third round loss at 2014 Wimbledon to Alize Cornet.
This defeat once again prevented Serena from fulfilling her wish to win a 24th Grand Slam title and equal the 24 Grand Slam title record of Margaret Court.
The 20 year old Kenin totally dominated Serena on the first set and convincingly won the set 6-2. This gave a psychological advantage which helped to win the closely fought second set.
Kenin for a berth in quarter final will now play the eighth seed Ashleigh Barty of Australia.
