IBSF 6Red World Snooker Championship 2019: Day 1 Upsets – Ex Champion Pak’s Asif & Indian Vidya Defeated
MYANMAR: On Day 1,IBSF 6 Red World Snooker Championship 2019, commenced with two major upsets.
Jan Eisenstein of Germany defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif, who is a name in the world of Snooker, having been the Ex – World Snooker Champion and many a times World Team Champion.
The second shocking defeat was of the Indian star player Vidya Pillai, at the hands of So Man Yan from Hong Kong.
Muhammad Asif from start struggled and could not position himself well to be in control. Thereby, the first three frames Asif lost with the scores: 36-09, 31-01 and 34-06. He showed his class in the fourth frame and made a strong recovery in fourth frame, but in the final fifth frame although a close fight but Asif lost by 9 points (30-39) and the match with score of 1-4 went in favour of the German.
In comparison to Muhammad Asif, Vidya was in command at the start with a 51 points quality clearance break and winning the first frame but the next 3 frames lost the game grip and ultimately the match 1-3.
Other selective match brief is as follows: Hong Kong’s Chau Hon Man with 66 points scored the highest break of the competition till now. It was scored in the last frame of the match which Chau won 4-1 against Nepal’s Ankit Man Shrestha. Waratthanun Sukritthanes another World champion from Thailand defeated the national champion of India Varshaa Sanjeev 3-1. Former World champion Ng On Yee also from Hong Kong, defeated Indian girl Keerthana Pandian in straight set of frames 3-0.Qatar player Ali Alobaidli narrowly manged to win 4-3 against Myanmar player Ye Zaw Htut.
