Minnesota Vikings managed to grab an upset 26-20 victory over New Orleans Saints thanks to Kirk Cousin’s overtime pass in the wildcard round of NFC playoffs at New Orleans.
Cousins made 19 passes and ran 242 yards in the game including two point-scoring touchdowns assisted by Kyle Rudolph and Adam Thielen to put the Vikings in a dominant position against the tournament favorites Saints.
Saints had gained an early 3-10 lead in the match thanks to Alvin Kamara’s four-yard touch down before being relegated aside later down the line. Wil Lutz came to his side’s rescue and scored the 49-yard field goal with two seconds to go to force an overtime.
The defeat marked the continuation of losing streak for Saints who had earlier been routed by Los Angeles Rams in a similar fashion in the NFC conference championship.
