Bangladesh outclassed India in the U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 final to grab their maiden title victory but the historic feat was marred by an on-ground scuffle between players from both sides.

As the Bangladeshi players rushed in towards the pitch to celebrate the victory shouting and chanting with flags, there were visuals of players trading harsh words and being held back by the umpires.

Similar scenes emerged when both teams lined up for post-match customary handshake with players shoving each other despite desperate attempts by the officials to separate them.

What exactly triggered the ugly spat isn’t known, but Bangladesh skipper and player of the match Akbar Ali apologized following the game for the ugly scenes.

“It’s purely hard work. Some of our bowlers were emotional and were pumped up. What happened after the game was unfortunate,” Ali said.

Eventually, things calmed down as Bangladeshi players and fans continued to revel in the celebration of their first-ever victory in a cricket world cup.

Just like players, the online community on both sides continued to blame each other for the on-ground scuffle and soon social media platforms turned into a full-fledged battleground.
