The legend Norman Hunter aged 76 of Leeds United died. He was admitted in hospital last week after having contracted the coronavirus and lost the battle on Friday.
Hunter who had played as the midfielder had appeared 726 times for Leeds over a career of 14-years. The clubs website while informing about the death stated, “He leaves a huge hole in the Leeds United family, his legacy will never be forgotten and our thoughts are with Norman’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
His laurels included:
- Helped Leeds to promotion from the Second Division in 1964.
- Hunter won two First Division titles, which included the League Cup and the FA Cup.
- During 1968 and 1971 he was a member of the Leeds’ Inter-Cities Fairs Cup-winning sides, which in 1975 was defeated in the final of the European Cup.
- Hunter won 28 caps for England, and scored two goals.
- He was part of the English squad which won 1966 World Cup.
In 1976, Hunter left Leeds and played for Bristol City and Barnsley. He also managed the later and also Rotherham United and Bradford City.
