After South Korea, sports activities have also restarted in Netherlands and Belgium.
After a break of six weeks, among the hockey playing nations Netherlands and Belgium were the first to resume training of their national teams. This was after the respective governments began a gradual relaxation lockdown restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus attack.
Following strict social distancing rules, Belgium the Men’s World number one ranked team trained at the Sportcentrum Wilrijkse Plein in Antwerp .
As per set rules, each team player came and went separately from the stadium. While training and being in the stadium they were required to keep a minimum distance of 1.5 metres.
The Dutch men’s and women’s teams started training at the Wegener Stadium in Amsterdam. Maintaining stringent rules, the players were split into groups of six and kept a distance of three metres between themselves.
Earlier due to the COVID 19 attack the Royal Dutch Hockey Federation had to postpone the FIH Pro League matches against Australia, New Zealand and Great Britian, which were to be played on home grounds. While the Premier club competitions and other local leagues of the 2019-20 season finished in April.
