Another heart-rending news for the motor-sports fans. After the cancellation of the Dutch Grand Prix, the Australian and the British Grands Prix have also been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Australian Grand Prix had been planned to take place from 23rd to 25th October, at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, while the British series was set to be staged between 28th to 20th August, at the Silverstone Circuit.
Previously, the opener for the 2020 season at Qatar had also been cancelled, only a week before the actual date of the series. The French, Italian, US, Argentine and the Spanish races had also been suspended and their fate still remains unclear as no new dates have been issued.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO-Chief Executive Officer of the Dorna Sports, the organization which stages these races, has said that they were extremely saddened to announce this unfortunate news. He added that the rejigged calendar and the pandemic had resulted in such major problems that there remained no other option, but to cancel these long-awaited events.
