The former champion Egan Bernal of Colombia did not participate in the 3rd warm up race of Tour de France held on 15th August between the French towns – Ugine to Megeve. The warm up race officially known as the Criterium du Dauphine was on 153.3 km mountain trek
Egan was absent due to pain in his back. After resting, Bernal will participate in Tour de France set to be from Nice to Paris from 29th August to 20th September. The route of the cycle race is illustrated in the map below:
Egan had participated in the 1st warm up race Route d’Occitanie from 1st-4th August followed by the 2nd race Tour de l’Ain from 7th-9th August.
22 years cycles for the team Ineos and won Tour de France 2019. He was the first Latin American winner of the race. The runner up Geraint Thomas of England was also his team mate.
In addition, to this he also won a silver medal in 2014 and a gold medal in 2015 during the UCI Union Cycliste Internationale Mountain Bike World Championships Junior cross country event. Bernal has also won the Junior road racing Clasica Juventudes Cajica in Colombia and Sognando Il Giro delle Fiandre in Italy during 2015.
