Ethopian athlete Shura Kitata won the LM London Marathon 2020, while the defending champion Eliud Kipchoge finished at 8th spot. Kitata took 2 hours 5 minutes and 41 seconds to reach the finish line while maintaining lead during last 15 minutes of the race.
The Runner up was Vincent Kipchumba of Kenya while Sisay Lemima of Ethopia won third position.
The 2020 marathon which had a flat course started from Blackheath and finished at The Mall, London, while passing along the River Thames.
On the Women’s side, Brigid Kosgei of Kenya defended her title in 2 hours 18 minutes and 58 seconds, while Sara Hall and Ruth Chepngetic won second and third positions.
During the 40th event of LM no spectators were allowed due to the corona pandemic.
The LM was originally set to be held on 26th April 2020 but had been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The LM was founded by athletes John Disley and Chris Brasher in 1981.
