Katsunobu Kato – Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary announced that countermeasures against cyber attack to ensure that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics 2020-21 are held successfully have been finalised.
According to reports, an organisation had conducted “cyber reconnaissance” operations against organisers, logistics suppliers and sponsors of the Tokyo Games thereby, counter measures were boosted. However, the Olympics Organising Committee reported that, ‘There was no significant impact observed from possible cyber attacks on its operations’.
Additionally, the IOC International Olympic Committee spokesperson mentioned, ‘IOC has identified cyber security as a priority area and has invested much for the the best cyber security environment for Olympic Games’.
The event was originally planned to be held in 2020 but was delayed for an year due to the corona pandemic, and as per the new schedule the Tokyo Olympics will commence on 23rd July 2021.
