The Turkish Grand Prix after 16 days of being added to the Formula 1 calendar has been cancelled.
Due the change in Turkish event which was to take place at Istanbul Park, the French Grand Prix will be moved ahead by a week and a Turkish Grand Prix will now be held as a second race in Austria.
On 13th June the 7th round of the championship race was due to take place in Turkey. However, the race became doubtful after the Great Britain government, added Turkey to its Covid-19 pandemic “red list” of countries which are not encouraged to be visited except under extreme circumstances. Majority of the Formula 1 teams are based in Great Britain.
To ensure that the scheduled 23 events take place during 2021, an additional race has been added in Austrian race timetable. For accommodating this change, France’s round of the Formula race will be shifted forward by a week and therefore take place on 18th-20th June.
