INDIA: The docudrama, about the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will be released this week on big screen. Directed by filmmaker James Erskine from Britain, traces Tendulkar’s childhood life to undoubtedly becoming one of the greatest batsman of all time.

Having taken four years to complete it includes actual footage of selected matches, interviews with colleagues, existing players and family members. Some scenes of childhood have been recreated using actors

The former captain made his debut for India in 1989 at the teen age of16 in 1989.  In the cricket record books he is the sole record holder cricketer of having scored 34,000 runs and 100 international centuries. Besides, having virtually broken every batting record.

According to the Director Erskine, who has made several acclaimed sports films, insists the docudrama will reveal new aspects about his life.

Tendulkar having retired from professional cricket in 2013, having talked to media commented:

  • “Being a private person I always believed I should let my bat do the talking, stay focused on the game and give all my energy over there.”
  • “There are personal moments in the film and some family footage. I know fans want to see something more than what they have in the last 24 years.”
  • “I am used to seeing myself on a big screen inside the stadium, not inside a movie theatre.
