TOKYO: The USA Weightlifter  C.J. Cummings won the Junior World Championship for the second time in a row.

Cummings the youngest competitor in the session has won his 4th world title – twice Youth and twice Junior.

Cummings won the title by 1kg over Japan’s Masanori Miyamoto.  He clean & jerked 173kg and then 183kg. His second clean & jerk attempt was a exactly 10kg over the next heaviest lift in that portion by Miyamoto. Cummings also tried 186kg – which would have been a new Youth World Record, breaking his own at 185kg.

USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews messaged to BarBend and said “It’s just great. 9kg down going into the Clean & Jerk and still defending his World Championship – great performance and great way to fight!”
