English Premier League
10 matches were played on 25th, 26th and 27th April, Matchday 33 of 38. The most significant contest of the Matchday, or perhaps The League was played on Wednesday between Arsenal and Manchester City. The 4 – 1 win of City could have been 8 -1 but for brilliant goalkeeping by Arsenal’s Ramsdale. City dominated the game against the top of the table Arsenal. The Gunners felt clueless and mostly played a disjointed and uncoordinated game. Haaland, the leading scorer of current UEFA Champions League, made three attempts at the goal which were either saved or went astray. In another significant match, MU and Tottenham played a 2 – 2 draw, much to the credit of the Sours. Unfortunate Chelsea continue to lose which may not augur well for interim coach Lampard. Manchester City have entered Champions League semifinals and with their current form, a European and national double (EPL and the FA Cup) seems a close reality. Results are given below.
- Wolverhampton 2 – 0 Crystal Palace
- Aston Villa 1 – 0 Fulham
- Nottingham Forest 3 – 1 Brighton
- Leicester City 1 – 1 Leeds United
- Brentford 2 – 0 Bournemouth
