New Zealand Vs Sri Lanka – T20I
Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand at Auckland in the 1st T20I of the three match series in the Super Over after the scores were tied at 196 for each side. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 196 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. Charith Asalanka made 67 runs in 41 balls while Kusal Perera scored 53 runs in 45 balls. James Neesham was the pick of New Zealand bowlers with 2 wickets for 30 runs and best economy rate.
New Zealand made a spirited charge for the target after losing two early wickets. Daryl Mitchell scored 66 runs in 44 balls with Latham, Chapman and Ravindra making useful contributions at high scoring rates. However, they could not reach the target of 197 runs and the match went into the Super Over. New Zealand made 8 runs in the Super Over which were easily chased by Sri Lanka. Charith Asalanka was declared Player of the Match.
South Africa Vs Netherlands – ODI
South Africa beat Netherlands at Johannesburg with a big margin of 146 runs and won the three match series 2 – 0. Batting first, South Africa made 370 runs in their quota of 50 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. After losing two early wickets, South Africa went on the rampage, led by Aiden Markram who made 175 runs in 126 balls. He was well supported by David Miller who made a rapid fire 91 in only 61 balls. Fred Klassen was the pick of the Netherlands bowlers with 2 wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs.
Netherlands were never in the serious hunt of the target and scored a modest 224 all out in 39.1 overs. Musa Ahmed made 61 runs in 69 balls with Max O’Dowd and Scott Edwards chipping in with 47 and 42 runs respectively. Sisanda Magala picked up 5 Netherland wickets conceding 43 runs. Aiden Markram, who also picked up 2 wickets, was declared Player of the Match and Series.
