USA Tennis & Câvirus: Frances Tiafoe becomes the latest American player to test positive. He announced this a day after playing an exhibition event the All American team Cup held in Atlanta. This was the first tennis event held in the USA since the coronavirus attack and was open to public. Tiafoe has been tested positive after Novak Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki. The organisers informed that Tiafoe has been replaced by Christopher Eubanks.

Japanâs Football League: After four-month due to the coronavirus attack, the J-League will return this weekend on 4th July. The season was stopped during February after only one round of matches were played. All the 18 participating teams will play on the opening day and the main match will be between the defending champion Yokohama and Urawa Reds. Unfortunately, the J-League will be played without the fans and spectators as is the case for most of the sports around the world.
USA & Brazilian Grands Prix: According to Toto Wolff the chief of Mercedes Formula 1 team, it is doubtful that these races will take place during 2020 due to the coronavirus attack. The USA, Brazilian and Mexican races are scheduled to be held during October and November but the related countries are among the worst virus effected, thus the chances of the races being held are doubtful. Mr. Toto elaborated that he was updated by F1 chairman and CEO Mr. Chase Carey that the race events in Austin, Texas and Sao Paulo, Brazil are under considerable threat of not taking place.

Cricket South Africa Training: After sports ministry approval, the South Africaâs 44 cricketers have returned to training during the COVID-19 attack. According to Cricket South Africa management the players will train in small monitored groups with specific coaches. Cricketing activities in South Africa were suspended since 15th March, when the domestic one-day season was in progression. In addition, the menâs team was visiting India for a three-match ODI series, which was postponed due to the pandemic.
Pakistan Vs England Cricket Series: Pakistan after arriving is in a two-week quarantine in Worcester for a Test and Twenty20 series during August. According to England and Wales Cricket Board, the 20 players and 11 staff members in the Pakistan squad tested negative. In addition, all of Englandâs players and management were also negative in their third round of tests. As to the six Pakistan players who tested positive and did not accompany the team have tested negative and are cleared to join the squad in England.

USA Major League Soccer (MLS): 20 players and 6 club staff members have tested positive for coronavirus before the ‘MLS is Back Tournament’ starts on 8th July. According to MLS management since the full team trainin restarted on 4th June, out of a total of 668 players who went through the coronavirus tests, 18 tested positive before travelling to Floridaâs Disney World resort for the tournament. MLS added that two additional players had tested positive upon arrival in Orlando, which will be taking place without spectators, with the winner being decided on 11th Aug.
Tennis-No Financial Impact on Wimbledon: According to the All England club Chief Executive Richard Lewis who is stepping down in July, the tournament cancellations during 2020 will have no serious financial impact on British tennis. Main reason is the insurance facility. Wimbledon the grass court Grand Slam was cancelled for the first time since World War II in April.

Golf – Travelers Championship: USAâs Denny McCarthy with positive coronavirus result before the start of second round on Friday, withdrew from the Championship. The 27 year old McCarthy since the restarting of PGA Tour on 11th June became the third golf player to test positive. Matt Wallace of England and USAâs Bud Cauley, tested negative but Bud also withdrew and Wallace missed the cut. Phil Mickelson the five-time champion took a one-stroke lead.
Cricket-Pakistan England Tour: Pakistan Cricket Board officials confirmed that the 10 players who tested positive for coronavirus will not travel to England for the upcoming series. However, the players if test negative may re-join the team of 18 players if they later test negative. The players having tested positive are: Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, Imran Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Kashif Bhatti and Mohammad Rizwan. The Pakistan England tour includes 3 Tests and 3 Twenty20 internationals.

FIFA Delays Intercontinental Qualifying Playoff: FIFA council has decided to move ahead a four-team intercontinental playoff round from March to June 2022. This is due to congestion of fixtures caused due to the coronavirus attack. Further, due to rescheduling of qualifying playoff, the draws of 2022 World Cup in Qatar could be made prior to the 32-team lineup is complete, or the option of delaying for two months could also be considered. Based on intercontinental playoffs two teams qualify for the World Cup. The playoff involves one team from each of four confederations – Asia, North Americaâs CONCACAF, South Americaâs CONMEBOL and Oceania.

Tokyo Olympics Funding Support: The local sponsors have pooled in a record amount US$ 3.3 billion to support the postponed Toyko Olympics. This amount is about two times more than any prior Olympics, and amounts to near 60 percent of the income for the operating budget privately funded. According to spokesman Mr. Masa Takaya, as the games have been postponed for an year, thereby, the sponsors will have to sign thee contracts again.

Tennis Australia: CEO Craig Tiley stated that the local professional players will be given an opportunity to earn income when the UTR Pro Tennis Series starts in Sydney on Saturday, 27th June. Tennis World No. 19 Tests Positive: The Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov, has tested positive for coronavirus. He stated in Instagram: “I tested positive back in Monaco for Covid-19. I want to make sure anyone who has been in contact with me during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions.” Grigor having played in two of the recent Adria Tour events of Novak Djokovic, on Saturday withdrew from the tournament in Zadar, Croatia after feeling sick and losing his first match to Borna Coric.
Football Russian Premier League: Three players of the the football club Dynamo Moscow have contracted coronavirus. According to the club management the players Clinton N’Jie, Charles Kabore, and Sebastian Szymanski tested positive after they had gone through an obligatory 14-day quarantine. The effected match between Krasnodar and Dynamo Moscow has been rescheduled for 19th July.

USA Major League Baseball: After team members including players and staff tested positive for coronavirus, two teams have closed their training facilities in the Florida state. Florida is one of many US states in which recently the infection rates has drastically increased. Philadelphia Phillies with five players and three staff members having positive tests closed their facilities in Clearwater, Florida.
The second team Toronto Blue Jays also closed the facility in Dunedin, Florida after one player gave indications of the coronavirus.
Australian Football League Player Tests Positive: Conor McKenna the key player of Essendon tested positive for coronavirus. During the hotel quarantine after returning from Ireland, Conor had been tested five times and each time the results had been negative. Due to this development the game to played between Essendon and Carlton on Sunday at the MCG stands postponed. The new date has not been announced and it is not sure if the round four encounter will at all be allowed tobe played at MCG.
USA Golf Player Tests Positive: Nick Watney an American golfer became the first PGA Tour player to test positive for coronavirus. Due to which Nick withdrew from the RBC Heritage in South Carolina before the second round. Watney, who traveled on his own to Hilton Head Island for the tournament, indicated to his doctor about certain Coronavirus symptoms.
Upon detailed check by the physicians, Nick took a test which was found positive.

Cricket Pakistan’s England Tour: The entire 43 member Pakistan squad which will be touring England will go through coronavirus tests be held on 22nd June in various cities where the members are residing. The squad which includes 29 players and 14 officials id supposed to leave for England on 28th June via a chartered flight to be arranged by the hosts ECB -England and Cricket Board. The series, to be held in August and September comprising of three Tests and three T20Is.
USA National Womenâs Soccer League: A little more then a week before commencement of the leagueâs Challenge Cup Tournament in Utah, the first coronavirus case has been reported. As per privacy laws the player and team has not been disclosed. NWSL in its statement informed that safety and health is of priority and all effort is being taken to ensure that affected players receive professional care. Preparations continue to be made for the league to be played from 27th June till 26th July.

Rugby Pro14: After a five-month break due to coronavirus hiatus the event will return from 22nd August. Same nation teams will compete against each other at home and away before the season concludes with the semi-finals and final events. For the semis the teams which finish in the first two places in Conference A and B will play the semi-finals. That final is scheduled for Saturday, 12th September.

Premier League Testing: The league management informed that in the ninth round of testing, out of a total of 1,541 players and staff, only one positive case has been detected. The concerned person will now self quarantine for the prescribed period of seven days. As per the set protocol, the identity of the individual is not being disclosed. In the first batch of testing between 17th and 18th May, six positive tests emerged from a sample size of 748.

Twenty20 World Cup, Australia: The chairman of Cricket Australia, Mr. Earl Eddings was rather pessimistic about the World Cup being held during 2020 in Australia. Talking o the media the chairman emphasized that although the event has not been called off, however, getting 16 countries in Australia when most of the countries are still in the grip of the pandemic, it is rather unrealistic and very difficult. The World Cup is presently scheduled to be held in Australia from 18th October – 15th November 2020.
Tokyo Olympics 2020: According to reports the board member Mr. Haruyuki Takahashi stated that if the coronavirus situation does not improve, then further delaying the Olympics should be an option rather cancelling the event. Earlier IOC- International Olympic Committee President Mr. Thomas Bach had suggested that if the event cannot be held as planned during 2021 then cancellation should be considered due to the major financial impact.

Cricket Pakistan Tour England: The PCB chairman Ehsan Mani informed that Pakistan cricket team tour to England has been given green signal by the Prime Minister. As per schedule the Pakistan team will reach England by the end of June and according to series itinerary play three Test and three T20 series during August and September. Due to the protocols set for eliminating coronavirus risk, the Pakistan squad with 29 players and 14 officials upon arriving in England will spend 14-days in quarantine. Another 3-4 weeks will be in a bio-secure environment in which training will be held in isolation.

Tennis US Open: Serena Williams coach Patrick Mouratoglou announced that she “would love to play.” This was a sign of relief for the organizers after few players including Djokovic, Nadal, Simona and Zverev have aired reservations about extreme protocols. The 2020 US Open starting date is 31st August which due to continuing risk of coronavirus will be held under strict restrictions.
NBA COVID 19 Tests: According to latest reports the NBA teams have been informed that upon start of the league on 23rd June will be tested for coronavirus on every other day basis. The season was halted on 11th March and as per NBA’s latest announcement the play will recommence on 30th July with 22 teams which have the possibility of making the playoffs at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.

Formula 1 organizers tried all possibilities to have the races during 2020 but finally announced that due to uncertain global situation it would not be possible. These cancellations are after the Covid-19 crisis have already claimed the opening races of the season in Australia and Monaco.

- USA-Hockey: The training sessions of the NHL-National Hockey Leagueâs players have started after the three-month long sports shutdown. The governing body has approved of a 24-team format for the playoffs. Covering the face has been made mandatory and no more than six players have been allowed to train at once.
- Motorsports-Formula One: Plans are being formulated to have more races in Europe than planned. With the cancellation of the races scheduled in Australia, France, Netherlands and Monaco, it likely that the races shall now be held in Europe to compensate for the financial losses due to the cancellations. - Football-France: The top administrative court of France has terminated the relegation of Amiens and Toulouse football clubs of the Serie A. Following the suspension of the League due to the novel virus, the two teams had been relegated from the top-tier football league and the Olympique Lyonnais had missed their chance of qualification to the Europa League by one point. Hence, the three teams approached the court, which suspended any such relegation’s.
- Cricket: The ICC-International Cricket Board has approved the ban on saliva to shine the ball to minimize the risk of corona virus transmission. Players would be given warnings if they use saliva unconsciously but would be penalized if they receive more than two warnings. Further, the ICC has allowed of temporary replacements of test players during a match if a player feels symptomatic and has permitted the appointment of home umpires as well.
- Brazil- Womenâs World Cup Hosting: The CBF-Brazilian Football Confederation has withdrawn from the candidacy for hosting the Womenâs Football World Cup in 2023. The governing body stated that the corona virus has incurred financial losses to the government, which is why they believe it was not wise to offer any financial guarantee.
- Rugby-Premiership Clubs: In a unanimous agreement of the Premiership clubs, it has been agreed to cut the salary cap by 1.4 million pounds. From the 2021-22 season, the senior ceiling shall come down to 5 million pounds to assist the clubs in stabilizing their finances which have been disturbed by the corona virus.
- Football-Australia: Professional football will be back in action in Australia, with the AFL-Australian Football Leagueâs fixtures marking the resumption.

- USA-Baseball: The MLB-Major League Baseball is not planning to test the players daily for the corona virus. As per the reports, only five out of the twenty-eight county and city health departments are in contact with MLB. The reason could be that it may be due to the non-availability of the testing kits for regular testing or perhaps the management believes it is not essential that such steps be taken.
- USA-Football: The NFL-National Football League and the NFL Players Association have jointly formulated the protocols that need to be observed in the post-corona fixtures. Maintaining the social distance of six feet, putting up of posters that discourage shaking hands and limiting the number of players to a maximum of 15, are among the issued guidelines. Training facilities have also been asked to keep each locker at a distance of six feet from each other.

- Para Athletics: The 2020 World Para Athletics European Championships have been moved to the 2021 due to the Covid-19. The event, originally scheduled for 2nd-7th June, was delayed in March and now the authorities have announced that it will not be held this year. Bydgoszcz, Poland has been given the hosting rights.
- Motorsports-Formula One Russia: The organizers of the Russian Grand Prix have said that the racing circuits in Sochi, shall be open for the Formula One to conclude the 2020 season earlier. The Russian Grand Prix is scheduled for 27th September, but its fate still remains uncertain owing to the ongoing pandemic.
- Badminton-Hyderabad Open: The lower-tier Super 100 event of the BWF Tour 2020 has been cancelled. The BWF-Badminton World Federation terminated the event after the Badminton Association of India agreed to the decision. The matches were scheduled from 11th-16th August in Hyderabad, India.

- West Indies England Tour: CWI – Cricket West Indies announced a 14 member squad for the three-Test series against England starting on 8th July. Three members namely Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul declined to remain part of the squad. CWI did not give the reasons due to which the three players had withdrawn. This tour which is subject to final approval of the UK government, will mark the beginning of international cricket.
- Tennis USA: Cincinnati Masters is being recommended to be shifted to New York, so it can be held along with the US Open, according to USTA – United States Tennis Association. According to the proposal, Cincinnati Masters will be held on its original date 17th-23th August with the US Open, commencing on 31st August. The main reasoning is for the foreign players to remain in one place, thereby, lessening concerns while having to travel during the coronavirus pandemic.

Cricket England vs W. Indies Series: The West Indies English tour commences from 8th July with three Tests being played in a period of 3 weeks. All matches will be played behind close doors without spectators.
- Athletics Czech: The Czech Athletic Federation’s ‘Back on Track’ project re-energized the sports at 173 Czech venues. Barbora Spotakova the two-time Olympic javelin champion was the highlighted of the opening day.
- Cricket South Africa: Subject to approval of the government, South African cricketers are expected to commence training from next week. The possibility of resuming outdoor training became possible after South Africa moved to Level 3 of the five-stage lock-down. The stage of Level 3 lock-down permits training of non-contact professional and matches i.e. after sports ministry approval. The process will be completed after the sport bodies ofSouth African, including CSA – Cricket South Africa will submit a presentation along with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Rugby Ashes series: The Rugby commissions of Australia and England have confirmed that the England vs Australia series, planned for October and November 2020, stand cancelled. Tennis Financial Support: ITF – International Tennis Foundation has decided to financially help lower-ranked players of both genders who are ranked between 500-700 in the singles category and between 175-300 in doubles category. The support which will be of limited amount is besides the relief-fund of worth more than US$ 6 million, which is planned to be distributed between 800 players. The relief fund is a combined effort of WTA, ATP, Grand Slam nations – Australia, USA, France, England and top ranked players, spearheaded by Novak Djokovic.
Cricket Sri Lanka: The cricket board announced that as a start the 13 members selected squad will return for training from Monday, 1st June. To be held at the Colombo Cricket Club the training duration will be for 12 days on residential basis. The chosen players are from all three formats – Test, ODI and T20. However, mostly are bowlers as they need more time to be prepared for normal competitions.

- US Basketball: The NBA-National Basketball Association is considering 31st July as the possible date for the resumption of the postponed season. Thereby, the players would be permitted to train from 10th July. Recently, a proposal was made in the meeting of the Board of Governors, to restart with 30 teams. Many official have, however, deemed this to be improbable and recommend the resumption with 24 teams only.
- Cricket-West Indies: Due to the economic challenges caused by the corona virus, the CWI-Cricket West Indies has said that it shall halve the salaries of the players. The decision would be implemented from 1st July and may be in effect for up to six months.

- Gaming: Sony confirmed that the upcoming home video game console – PS-PlayStation 5 shall be showcased online on 4th June 2020. It was expected that due to the corona virus pandemic the release may be delayed. However, as per the latest announcement of Sony the release stands confirmed.

The top twelve teams shall qualify for this tournament and the teams will be divided into two groups (A and B). - Motorsports-Dutch Grand Prix: Dutch GP-Grand Prix cannot be a part of the revamped calendar of the Formula One, according to the organizers. The Dutch Grand Prix was to return this year, after an absence of 35 years, but the corona virus has not let this happen. The organizers have said that they had waited for 35 years and could wait for another one, to have the Grand Prix in the presence of the fans.

Football-La Liga: The RFEF-Real FederaciĂłn Española de FĂștbol, has allowed La Liga to schedule matches on every day of the week, to conclude the season as early as possible. The RFEF had rejected the same request of the La Liga the previous year mentioning that it was doing so to protect the interests of the match-going supporters. However, in light of the current unprecedented times, the two organizations have decided to work together to bring football back.
British Tennis Restart Plan: The British LTA-Lawn Tennis Association has announced that it shall be organising a series of domestic tennis tournaments behind closed doors and without any spectators. The National Tennis Centre in Roehampton shall be hosting the first four matches of the competition. The first match has been scheduled to be played on 3rd July, however, the date is subject to changes as the countryâs government is still finalising the guidelines for elite sports return. The top-16, male and female, tennis players of Britain shall be competing in this lucrative tournament for a grand prize of 16,000 pounds and 2,250 pounds additional for singlesâ winners.

Premier League Club Voting: On Wednesday, the football clubs voted unanimously to return and start contact training, alongwith tackling. Remote Cheerer’ App: A local app-developing company in Japan has developed an app which shall enable the fans to remotely cheer from their homes. The’Remote Cheerer’ system will enable the fans to cheer, or boo, the players by either a live message being played on the giant speakers of the stadium or sending a pre-recorded message. The latest system was tested in the 50,000 capacity Shizuoka Stadium ECOPA, with Jubilo Iwata and Shimzu S-Pulse, two teams of the Japanese Leagues at the time of the trial.

Football-Wuhan: After a complete lock-down of about three months, football players headed to the pitches in Wuhan, the epicentre of the corona virus in China. The lock-down had been eased in the city earlier this month and now football has made its joyful return too. Many teams, including Wuhan Zall, of the CSL-Chinese Super League, who had been forced to train outside the city have made their return.
WTT-World Team Tennis: The organizers have stated that a maximum of 500 fans will be allowed inside the venue, when the league starts on 5th July. Many famous tennis players including Sloane Stephens and Sofia Kenin will be participating in the league. The matches have been planned to be staged at the Greenbrierâs 2500-seat outdoor stadium, in West Virginia. The governing authority has guaranteed to follow all the international protocols related to controlling coronavirus.

- Motorsports-NASCAR: The Coca Cola 600, the longest race in NASCAR history, was held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brad Keselowski, champion of the Xfinity and the Cup Series, was victorious in the 600-mile race. The race, which started on Sunday and ended on Monday, was halted for nearly 90 minutes as rain swept on the 1.5-mile speedway after 50 laps. Jimmie Johnson, seven-time NASCAR Cup Champion, was disqualified after the post-technical inspection and his teammate Chase Elliot finished second in the race.
Skiing-2021 World Championships: The FISI-Italian Winter Sports Federation, has decided to ask the governing body of the 2021 Skiing World Championships, to push back the competition by a year. The Championships were scheduled to take place in Cortina dâAmpezzo, Italy, but due to uncertainties over the novel virus, the host has asked to delay it to March 2022. Italy has been one of the most-affected countries by the Covid-19 and the decision has been taken to control the spread in the country.
- Baseball-Japan: After the countryâs governmentâs decision to ease the restrictions aimed at stopping the corona virus, the NPB-Japanâs Nippon Professional Baseball League has announced to begin with its 2020 season. The league was to start on 20th March, but the commencement was delayed due to the outbreak of the novel virus. As per the plans, the new date for its start is set to be 19th June.
Tennis-New Zealand: The tennis fans in New Zealand have been given the good news of the resumption of the elite tennis in the country from 3rd June. This shall mark the beginning of the first pro competition in the southern hemisphere and will give the tennis-starved fans something to watch and enjoy.

- Rugby-Financial Losses: Many clubs of the English Rugby Union have said that they are facing huge financial losses due to the ongoing pandemic. Many clubs, such as, the London Scottish have gone semi-professional as result of these losses. Salary cuts are being made which made the players and staff disheartened but they chose to continue with their clubs, acknowledging the losses of the clubs. However, despite all this, the clubs are in a critical economic situation which may intensify if developments in the sports are not made.

Ice Hockey World Championships: The IIHF-International Ice Hockey Federation has announced that it is pushing back the date of the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championships. The competition has been delayed by two weeks with the idea that national league seasons might also be postponed, and time remains for them to be held too. This recommendation was made in an online meeting of the IIHF Council. Thereby, as per the revised the dates, the Championships would be from 21st May-6th June. World Snooker Championships: The Chairman of the WPBSA-World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, Jason Ferguson, has said they are confident that no player shall be left out from the greatest snooker event. The HPA has warned the players and have mentioned that such players are putting the whole sport at risk.
Squash: Professional squash player, Jansher Khan, has said that squash shall beat covid-19. The WSF-World Squash Federation, had earlier this week, given some recommendations to the squash players and clubs to resume the sports with minimum risk of the spread of the novel virus. The recommendations included the observation of a distance of 2 metres, allowance of half of the usual number of people in the clubs and self-isolation of at least 14 days if an individual feels he is having the corona virus symptoms.
- Motorsports-Formula 1: The drivers of Formula 1, which is one of the biggest motorsport events, have fully agreed to the idea of âghost racesâ without any spectators. This means that back-to-back races shall be held in the absence of fans at Austriaâs Red Bull Ring in July. The postponement of the races had resulted in a delay of this season and this is being done to conclude it as soon as it can be.
Basketball-NBA: The management of the NBA-National Basketball Association has said that they are in talks with the Disney World Resort in Florida to resume the season in late July. The season had been paused on 11th March and it is now hoped that the Disneyâs Wide World of Sports Complex may be the only site which can cater to the needs of the NBA to resume.
Sports-India: The Sports Minister of India, Kiren Rijiju, has said that India shall not host any international sports events in the future, due to the corona virus. He added that all sports activities from within the country, will be held behind closed doors.
Tennis-US Open: The USTA- United States Tennis Association is trying to stage the US Open, behind closed doors, in New York from 31st August. Many tennis players including, Dan Evans, have said that these might be âiconicâ matches in the history of tennis.

- Football-Liga MX: The governing body of the top-tier Mexican football league has announced that the remainder of the current season has been cancelled. The decision came out after eight players of the Santos Laguna club tested positive. No champions have been declared, however, the top two teams: Cruz Azul and Leon, shall be eligible to join the CONCACAF Champions League in the next season.
- Basketball Legend Tests Positive: The 57-year-old Jamaican-American basketball legend and head coach of the Georgetown menâs basketball team, Patrick Ewing, has tested positive for the novel corona virus. He is the only person from Georgetown to have tested positive and has been hospitalized.
- Badminton Events – New Dates: The BWF-Badminton World Federation has announced the new dates for all the events of 2020.
- Golf-Scotland: It was recently announced by the Scottish Golf that golf courses shall be reopening from 29th May. - Football-Premier League: The management of the English football league have said that they are âas confident as can beâ to resume the season. The trainings have already started for the recommencement of the season and the date of resumptions is most likely thought to be 12th June.
- Cricket-South Africa: The CSA-Cricket Board of South Africa has said that they shall be isolating their players in a âbio-bubbleâ to minimize the risk of corona virus presence in them. They have said that they have done so to resume with the fixtures as soon as possible.
- Boxing-Gaza: A group of young female boxers in Gaza, have started to practice on the beaches of their city. They have started to practice after their clubs had been closed due to the corona virus. All boxers were wearing protective masks while practicing.

- Greek Basketball League: The governing body of basketball in Greece has announced that they have ended the current season of the League. The table toppers of the league so far, Pinathinaikos, have been declared the champions for this season. - FINA World Swimming Championships: The 25 metre World Swimming Championships, originally planned for December 2020 in Abu Dhabi, have been postponed. The competition shall now take place on 13-18 December, next year, as per the new plans.
- Manchester United Financial Loses: The authorities of the popular English club, Manchester United, have posted that the ongoing pandemic has resulted in a loss of about 28 million pounds, so far. A total of 11 fixtures of the team had been postponed and the total cost the management has to pay back to the broadcasters is almost 20 million pounds. The total loss of the club is thought to be way more than the amount they have lost until now.
- Rugby: The PGB-Professional Game Board of England, have agreed that âmore time is neededâ for the seasons to recommence. It was anticipated that the season may begin from early-July, but with this announcement, it seems very unlikely. Recently, the head coach of the Leicester Tigers and the authorities at Bristol, had also said that as many as two months may be needed for the players to adopt to the guidelines related to the corona virus.
- Tokyo Olympics: The Chief of the Olympics, Thomas Bach, has said that summer 2021 is the âlast optionâ for the rearranged Tokyo Olympics 2020 to take place. The statement came after the Japanese government said that the rearranged Olympics in 2021 might have to be postponed as well due to the corona virus. The Chief remarked that it is not possible that the entire sports schedule for the federations of numerous counties be changed every year.
- NASCAR-Darlington Raceway: The second race of the NASCAR-National Association for Stock Car Racing series took place today. The 39-year-old Motorsports veteran, Denny Hamlin, bagged his careerâs 39th victory in a rain-hit race at the Darlington Raceway. Hamlinâs victory was somewhat of a fortunate one, as he reached the finish line with worn tyres, after his team had run out of fresh ones earlier.
- Swimming-Bosnia: The suspension of all swimming activities due to the corona virus has forced Bosnian triathlon swimmers to train in glacial lakes. A total of three swimmers have started to train in the Boracko Lake, as pools have been temporarily closed throughout the country. .
- Football-Turkish Football League: Nihat Ozdemir, the President of the Turkish Football League, has announced that they shall be announcing the date for the resumption of the League on 28th May.
- Cycling-Turkey: The Cycling Federation Turkey has announced that they have cancelled this yearâs Presidential Cycling Tour over Covid-19. Erol Kukukbakirci, the President of the Federation, has said that they have done so for the health and safety of the players. The tour has been planned to be rearranged in April 2021.
- Cricket–Pakistan tour of England: The PCB-Pakistan Cricket Board has said that there is no obligation on every player to travel to England for the test and T20 series this July-Sept. The players may withdraw from the tour if they want to.
- Football–Mexico: A total of eight players from the Santos Laguna football club of the Mexican Football League have tested positive for corona virus. The identity of the positively tested players has not been disclosed yet. The Mexican League is still under suspension which commenced from 15th March.
- Basketball–NBA: The NBA-National Basketball Association has said that they shall be issuing guidelines around 1st June for the next season. They have also asked the teams to call back players which are currently in other countries or cities. The NBA had been suspended earlier this year on 11th March due to the outbreak of the corona virus.
- Cricket–South Africa: The South African cricket board is hopeful that the planned T20 series with India shall take place in the last days of August. However, the tour of the West Indians to the country is yet to get any finalised dates.
- Football–Europe: The Portuguese League have announced that nine stadiums have passed the inspection tests for the League to restart. It is planned that this yearâs season shall end by 26th July. Moving towards the English Premier League, the Culture Minister of England has announced that they may allow free-to-air broadcasts of some of the matches once the League resumes. The German government has also announced good news for football fans that Womenâs Bundesliga shall also be recommencing on 29th May.

- Snooker-The Championship League: Snookerâs first competition since the hiatus caused by the corona virus, is set to take place on 1st July. The Championship shall have a total of 64 participants which will be competing for the grand prize of US $ 20,000. Special guidelines such as frequent hand sanitization, regular disinfection of the sports equipment and regular corona testing, are to be observed. Plus, the WST-World Snooker Tour has announced that the World Snooker Championship has been rearranged to take place on 31st July at Sheffield.
- Cycling-HTV Cup: The second day of the HTV Cup attracted many spectators to their television screens and ended their two-month long want for the sport. 84 participants are currently participating in the Cup which has been planned to conclude on 7th June.
- Football-La Liga: The institutional complications between Spanish Soccer Federation President, Luis Rubiales, and La Liga Chief, Javier Tebas, ended when Rubiales agreed that matches may be held on Mondays. The La Liga had scheduled many fixtures to take place on Mondays in order to end the season on time, which a commercial court put a ban on. However, Luis Rubiales, having the power to do so, allowed the matches to be held on the opening day of the week.
- Cricket-England: 18 bowlers of the English Cricket Team, shall be returning to training on Thursday, after the Boardâs plan to restart practices. They shall be practicing in seven different grounds according to the guidelines issued by the Board.
- Football-Premier League: It was revealed the previous day that six people from the Premier League had tested positive for the corona virus. Four out of the six people have been named so far, while two remain unnamed. Burnley assistant manager Ian Woan, two staff members and defender Adrian Mariappa of Watford are the four which have tested positive. All six have been asked to self-isolate for at least seven days.
- Tennis-Lawn Tennis Club: The LTA-All England Lawn Tennis Club has for the first time in four years, posted a profit of 8.7 million pounds. However, they have announced that with the cancelation of this yearâs Wimbledon due to the novel virus, there are chances that they may need to draw upon money from the Clubâs reserves.
- Hockey: The FIH-International Hockey Federation has announced that international hockey shall only resume after cure or vaccine is made for the corona virus. Other than this, the gold medal favourites for Olympics this year, have said that they might have lost some advantage which they earlier had over their competitors. The Belgians had secured their qualification after the EuroHockey Nations Championships, but their rivals had to play another qualifying tournament before booking a ticket for Japan.
- Football-Womenâs Super League: The English Football Association has said that it is currently having talks with the WSL-Womenâs Super League, to conclude the season earlier. However, no decision or plan has been constituted so far.
- Baseball-Major League Baseball: The MLB-Major League Baseball have announced that they shall be starting the season by 4th July. This will be the first baseball event since the corona virus has caused all leagues or championships to be postponed. The plan issued by the MLB is facing criticisms from medical consultants, though they are endeavouring to overcome them beforehand.
- Football-Serie A: The Italian Football Federation had issued a notification to all clubs on 19th May, to restart team trainings. Many international players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, have flied to Italy after the notification. Further, the Italian Football Federation had planned to finish this season on 2nd June, but now the date has been pushed back to 20th August. They have done so to finish any possibility of playoffs in case the season has to be suspended again due to the ongoing pandemic.

- Tennis: Pakistanâs Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi had started his corona relief efforts inside Pakistan. Other world leading players including menâs number one Djokovic, Nadal, Maria Sharapova and Sania Mirza, have backed up his efforts to feed poor families in Pakistan. They have put their signed memorabilia for auction at the Stars Against Hunger auction and the amount they shall be bought for will be forwarded to Aisam.
- Cycling-HTV Cup: After a break of about two months, the first cycling event took place in Vietnam. All 84 participants participated in it, though under special guidelines.
- Rugby: Players in New Zealand returned to practice after a two-month long break in any rugby fixtures. Special guidelines such as temperature-checking and frequent hand sanitizing were followed. The teams have started to practice for the countryâs new league which has been specially introduced to keep players in form.
- Football-European Solidarity Cup 2020: Football clubs of Madrid, Milan and Munich have announced that they shall be having a special solidarity cup this year. Each of the clubsâ management have given out their statements confirming this. The matches will take place in all three stadiums of the clubs. The matches are not only being held to demonstrate the solidarity of the three nations, but also to raise funds for medical facilities in Spain and Italy.
- Bull Riding: The PFB-Professional Bull Riding of the United States has announced that it will reopen its gates for professional bull riding to resume once again in July. The PBR has said that it shall be âexpectingâ fans in the stands in the bucking bull championship which is planned to take place on 10-12 July. The championship shall take place in the state of South Dakota.
- Football-Premier League: Six corona virus tests have turned out to be positive out of the 748 tests which were taken across the 20 clubs. The people who have tested positive have not been named and they have been instructed to self-isolate for seven days. The tests were taken on Sunday and Monday this week and are a part of the âProject Restartâ of the Premier League.
- Motorsports-Formula 1: The Formula One has said that it would be impossible that the British Grand Prix takes place if the government does not give exemptions for the sport. The management has said that tens of thousands of jobs will have a major impact if exemptions are not granted for the elite sport to return.

- Skiing: after the Slovenian government reopened its corona virus lockdown, hundreds of skiers hit the slopes of a local ski resort. The snow cover, at present, is at least 3.5 meters in depth and it is expected that a number of skiers amounting up to 300 may hit the slopes in the following days. Wearing masks and maintaining the social distance is mandatory.
- Football-La Liga returns: the Spanish League was also given the green signal by its government to restart trainings, though, under special guidelines. These guidelines include the disinfecting of sports equipment, regular temperature and corona testing of the players and the staff and trainings in groups of no more than 10 players.
- Cricket: the ECB- England and Wales Cricket Board had previously suspended professional cricket until July 1, though trainings shall now continue across the country from next week. The ECB is also planning to host the West Indians in July in âbio-secureâ venues. Pakistanâs tour of England may also go as planned. Nonetheless, it has to be noted that if any matches take place, they will be held without any spectators.
- Rugby: Francis Saili the centre player at Harlequins, has announced that he shall leave his current club at the end of the current season and will join the French rugby club-Biarritz.
- Football: The Premier League: trainings to continue from Tuesday, May 19, after the 20 clubs unanimously voted in favour of the resumption for trainings. With practice underway, it is in the air, that the seasonâs planned matches shall restart from June 12.
- Golf: two-on two charity skins match: Dustin Thompson and the world number one, Rory McIlroy, competed against each other at the Driving Relief two-on-two charity skins match. The match took place without any audience and all social distancing guidelines were observed. No caddies were used, and the golfers carried their bags on their own. A total amount of $5.5 m was raised during the competition, which came from sponsors and donations from around the globe.
- Motorsports: the NASCAR-National Association held its first race since the series had been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. No fans were allowed inside the empty Darlington Raceway and only the sounds of the engines and the screeching of the tyres circulated inside. Kevin Harvick won his careerâs 50th title and beat his rivals with a 2.15 second lead.
- Football- UEFA meeting postponed: the governing body for Europeâs soccer, UEFA, issued a statement in which it has said that the meeting schedule for May 27 has been postponed to June 17. It has said that the postponement has been made as matters regarding the venues of the rearranged EURO Cup 2020 remain unresolved. After the venues have been confirmed, the Executive meeting shall be held, and future developments will be discussed therein. The UEFA President also hinted that the number of venues might be reduced to ten, nine or eight if the matter remains unsettled. Up till now, nine venues have been established, he added.
- Cricket-ICC recommendations: an ICC committee headed by former Indian spinner, Anil Kumble, unanimously suggested that the use of saliva to shine balls should be banned. The recommendation was given keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic and the plans of the governing cricket bodies to restart training and some matches. The committee mentioned that it was a threat to the health of the players as it may lead to the spread of the corona virus.

- Athletics: Katerina Stefanidi, gold medallist of Olympicsâ16, won the womenâs garden pole challenge by completing 34 successful jumps. The Greek defeated Canadaâs Alysha Newman and Americaâs Katie Nageotte who completed 21 and 30 jumps respectively.
- Football-The Premier League: The League issued a set of guidelines and rules, under the name of âProject Restartâ, that shall be followed if training resumes. The most probable date for matches to start again is rumoured to be June 12. Trainings in small groups might restart from Tuesday, May 20, but a vote is yet to take place on Monday morning. Any plans of training shall only continue if 14 out of the 20 English clubs vote in favour of the resumption. Earlier, the managers of the clubs of Newcastle and Watford had shown their concerns over this project calling it a rushed return.
- World Rugby Council: the international organization announced that they would be postponing all tours which were scheduled for this summer. The decision came out after mutual consultations with the governing bodies of other countries. The tours have just been postponed indefinitely and not cancelled. Trainings in New Zealand continue under some special guidelines.
- Cricket-Pakistan Cricket Teamâs Schedule: the PCB-Pakistan Cricket Board released a central contract list and the agenda for the next calendar year i.e. 2020-21. As predicted by the Allsportspk panel, the tour to Ireland was postponed within 24 hours of the release of the list.
- Cycling-The HTV Cup: the Vietnamese cycling tournament shall be held from May 19 – June 7, after the government of the country gave the green signal. The permission was granted since the country had a very minute number of Covid-19 patients and had no reported fatalities.
- Tennis: the ITF-International Tennis Federation has announced that it shall be extending its suspension of all tennis tournaments to July 31, 2020. ITF President, David Haggerty, has said that such a decision had to be taken due to the ongoing pandemic. He added that these are tough times and such decisions are an absolute necessity to keep the players and the staff safe.
- Football-The Bundesliga: the German League has had two live matches behind closed doors till now. It was the first league to resume with the temporarily changed rules in place.
