Alfredo Di Stefano
Born on 4th July, 1926 in Argentina – Died on 7th July, 2014 in Madrid.
- Known for his achievements with Real Madrid, where he played an instrumental role in the club’s domination of the European Cup – won it 5 times in a row during the 1950s.
- Alfredo Di Stefano was blessed with tactical versatility, creativity and prolific vision on the pitch, for these qualities he possessed he was known as ”Saeta Rubia”.
- He is the only player to score in 5 European Finals.
- Di Stefano is the top 3rd goalscorer of Real Madrid, netting 308 goals for the Los Blancos.
- In 1957 and 1959 he was awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or and is the only player to win the Super Ballon d’Or in 1989 (After retirement).
- In his international career he played with three different national teams during his career, scoring 6 goals in 6 appearances for Argentina, and 23 in 31 appearances for Spain.
- He never played in the FIFA World Cup.
- Di Stéfano also played four times for Colombia, during the Dimayor period of Colombian football.
- Alfredo Di Stefano after his retirement from professional Football, served as Real Madrid Coach from 1982 to 1984.
