The 2 year count down to the 19th Asian Games 2022 was celebrated by holding a canoe relay in Hangzhou, China on 6th September. Meng Guanliang, the 2 time Olympic canoeing champion was the leading navigator.
The Asian Games Federation organises the Asian Games after every 4 years. The latest Asian Games were held during 2018 in Jakarta.
The forthcoming Asian Games are set to be held in Hangzhou from 10th to 25th September 2022 with 2 year count down to begin this week.
The canoe relay commenced from Qiantang River and culminated at Fuchun River while passing through Qiandao Lake and Xin’an River.
Out of 500 participants, 19 leading navigators symbolised the 19th Asian games in each part of the relay.
Additionally the water sports competitions were also held in the co-host cities of the 19th Asian Games 2022. These co-host cities include Shaoxing, Ningbo, Jinhua and Wenzhou with the main events in Hangzhou.
