The first day of the inaugural ATP Cup in Sydney, Australia saw a number of interesting matches between international teams with some already expected results and some shocking surprises.
Team Bulgaria settled in the latter spot with their stunning victory over Team Britain thanks to Grigor Dimitrov’s double duty.
The captain of the Bulgarian side not only won his own singles contest but also led his teammate Alexandar Lazarov to a surprise victory over tournament favorites Jamie Murray and Joe Salisbury with straight sets of 7-6(5), 6-7(2) and 11-9.
Earlier, Britain’s Cameron Norrie beat Dimitar Kuzmanov to give his side an early lead in Men’s double but the unfancied side made a spectacular comeback to finish the day 2-1.
