BWF – Badminton World Federation and BD – Badminton Denmark announced that they are aware of Danish Governments announcement to prolong the ban of “larger gatherings” in Denmark till the end of August 2020.
This announcement has caused some confusion as Total BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020, to be held in Denmark were already rescheduled till 15th-23rd August. Thus, BWF and Badminton Denmark are clarifying from the relevant Danish authorities about the definition of “larger gatherings” and what would be the affect on staging of the two events which were rescheduled on 15-23 August.
The two Badminton Federations added that, they have a number of options to consider, however, the first priority is the health and safety of all involved as players, managers, organizers, etc.
Future developments will be announced as BWF and Badminton Denmark, along with tournament organisers, Sport Event Denmark and the local Aarhus government, are actively exploring best possible solutions.
BWF also announced that they are aware that the AGM 2020 and BWF Members’ Forum, events both key events could also be affected due to the prevailing COVID 19 conditions.
