Single’s: Petra Kvitova vs Magdalena Rybarikova

Result: Petra Kvitova defeated Magdalena Rybarikova in Birmingham Classic 2018 final by 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Highlights:

  • Despite taking the lead in the first set, Petra Kvitova failed to extend it for his opponent.
  • Magdalena Rybarikova also started scoring points and in the end Madalena sealed her win in the first set by 6-4.

  • Pressure came upon Petra Kvitova as if she lost this set, she would fail to defend her title.
  • Soon the next started and Petra Kvitova opened the scoring with a powerful shot.

  • Petra Kvitova was progressing at a very fast pace in this set and eventually she won it by 6-1.
  • Magdalena Rybarikova faced a terrible defeat in the second set as she was only able to score a point.

  • The match moved on to the third and decisive set of the match. Petra Kvitova again took the lead in this set.

  • Magdalena Rybarikova got into pressure after some and was losing points rapidly on her serve.

  • At last, Petra Kvitova finally won the set and successfully defended her title against Magdalena Rybarikova.

Double’s: Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic vs Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs

Result: Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic defeated Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs in Birmingham Classic 2018 final by 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Highlights:

  • Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic took the lead in the opening set of the match.
  • On the other hand, Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs also started scoring after some time and the match became more exciting.

  • It looked that Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic could win this set but they lost some easy points which costed them the first set.
  • In the second set, Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic took a perfect start by taking the lead in this set.

  • However, Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs were also scoring points after some time.
  • In the end, Elise and Demi lost some points on their serve which led them to failure in the second set by 6-3.
  • After the shocking defeat to Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs in the second set, the match came to the third and decisive set.

  • Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic again opened the scoring of the decisive set and were extending their lead at a very fast rate.
  • On the other hand, Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs were also scoring points quickly.

  • After a very tough battle between the two pairs, the score reached at 9-8 with Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic leading with one point upfront.

  • Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs failed to win this set as Timea and Kristina scored the last point and eventually won the Birmingham Classic 2018 doubles title.
