Benish Hayat is Pakistan’s first female hockey umpire who has been included in the umpire panel of Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The field hockey matches of the event commenced on 29th July and will conclude with Women’s final on 7th August and the Men’s final on 8th August.

Benish as a player has been 10 times part of the Pakistan team. Which included the 2006 Asian Games Qualifiers squad.
In 2011 Benish retired and during 2012 started focusing upon her umpiring career. Since she has officiated 49 matches, which included the 2018 Women Asian Games held in Indonesia.
