Boxing: Amir Khan Defeats Samuel Vargas
Amir Khan survived a second-round knockdown, and kept his energy up in his rebound to score consistent points, and defeated Samuel Vargas by a unanimous decision, 119-108 119-109 118-110.
The 31-year-old amazed his Colombian opponent with a straight right in the 1st round, yet took an overhand right late in the 2nd to touch down.
In the 2nd round, the bell saved Khan, who scored another knockdown in the 3rd, before the pace step by step moderated.
I’ve never understood the Amir Khan hate because there’s never been even a single Khan fight that wasn’t entertaining and engrossing.
But yeah, despite the win that one right there was questionable to say the least haha

After his 39-second pulverisation of Phil Lo Greco in April, this demonstrated a far stiffer test for Khan, who showed his trademark hand speed from the beginning. Yet, as has been the situation previously, the powerlessness of his jaw remains a question mark.
Congrats to Amir Khan on his UD win over Samuel Vargas. Fight was a pitty pat beat down in favor of Khan. Almost complete blow out on the score cards. Vargas face swollen but he can be proud of his resilience…so yeah, did I say Khan won?

Just seconds of the second round remained, when he rapidly stood up after the knockdown, and in the tenth round he was again tagged intensely with a right hand minutes before the ringer.
