Boxing WBA “Super” World Welterweight: Pacquiao Beats Thurman + Video
LAS VEGA, USA: Philippines’ Manny Pacquiao won a split decision bout against Keith Thurman.
An action welterweight title fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the older Pacquiao at age of 40, proved that he can be better then a 10 year younger and an undefeated fighter opponent.
Pacquiao who is an Ex-WBA’s world welterweight champion, also won the WBA’s “Super” 147-pound crown from Thurman.
In the split decision, Two Judges, namely Tim Cheatham and Dave Moretti gave the same score decision 115-112 in favour of Pacquiao. While the Judge Glenn Feldmandecided in favour of Thurman, with the score 114-113.
Pacquiao was in an aggressive and vicious mood from the start and through out the fight. In the later part of the first round Pacquiao with a right hook knocked down Thurman. Then in the fifth round with a right hand jab, Thurman’s nose was bloodied. Finally in the tenth round Thurman was badly hurt with a left hook on the body.

Interestingly, Thurman competed and had better statistical performance. As per CompuBox’s unofficial statistics, Thurman landed more punches than 210-of-571 to 195-of-686. As to power punches CompuBox counted more for Thurman 192-of-443 to 113-of-340. However, in jabs category Pacquiao had an edge with the stats of 82-of-346 to 18-of-128.
