Highlights
· Australian athletes dominated the Athletics event as they took 8 Gold medals followed by Jamaica whose athletes added 5 medals to their tally.
· The men’s Cycling event was won by Australia’s Cameron Meyer and the women’s event was won by Australia’s Katrin Garfoot.
· A proud day for Nigeria as their athletes took 6 medals in 4 events to dominate the sport of Para Powerlifting at the commonwealth games today.
· India’s Heena Sidhu won a Gold medal for her country in the Women’s 25m Pistol Finals after beating Australia’s Elena Galiabovitch and Malaysia’s Alia Sazana Azahari who won Silver and Bronze respectively.
· The Swimming event had been dominated by Australia from Day 1 and Day 5 wasn’t as surprise at all. Australian athletes showed their competitive nature as they scored 13 overall medals from this event.
· With a total of 130 medals Australia are firmly leading ahead from England who have only 74 medals to their name so far.
