The PCB Awards 2020, will be held to recognise the achievements of the players and match officials, including the contributions and sacrifices made by them during the ongoing C’virus-19 pandemic. This was announced by the PCB-Pakistan Cricket Board.
During 2020 despite the sports world having came to a stop Pakistan cricket was probably the only one which started a complete 2020-21 season on 4th September and, since 30th September, has successfully held 186 matches out of 259 (about 71 %) till present date.
In the first quarter of 2021, the remaining 73 matches – comprising the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final, 5 matches vs South Africa, 33 matches of Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament and 34 matches in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2021 will be played.
PCB in the 2020 Awards has identified a total of 11 categories, including eight player categories, which are:
- – Emerging Men’s and Women’s Cricketers of the Year
- – Women’s Cricketer of the Year
- – Domestic Men’s Cricketer of the Year
- – Individual Performance of the Year
- – White-ball Cricketer of the Year
- – Test Cricketer of the Year
- – Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year
There will also be Spirit of Cricket, Umpire of the Year and Best Corporate Achievement of the Year awards.
According to the set procedure, an independent jury will evaluate the performances in 10 categories, for the 2020 calendar year (1 January to 31 December) through a virtual meeting and select a winner in each category. The Umpire of the Year will be selected by the First XI head coaches and captains.
The announcement of the winners will be made via PCB digital platforms on January 1, 2021.
