The Dutch lady was the main rider to push past the 48 kilometers for each hour stamp, with a period of 34 minutes 25 seconds, constituting to 48.3 km every hour over the 27.8 km course.

Van Vleuten’s assurance to recover the title she won a year ago was apparent in her choice to not participate in the team time trial on Sunday, and pave the way to Tuesday’s race training at high altitude in Livigno, Italy.

Her win pushed countrywoman Anna van der Breggen into 2nd place β denying the ruling Olympic street race champion a chance to eat up her first world title by an edge of 28s.
The altogether Dutch platform was adjusted off by previous rainbow jersey and current European champ, Ellen Van Dijk.
