Davis Cup Group I and Group II Ties: Day 2 – Results
The results from the Day 2 of the Davis Cup Group I and Group II ties have been announced by ITF – International Tennis Federation. These ties are taking place on 13th to 15th September 2019. Out of the 19 ties which have to be played this weekend, 11 have been played and the remaining 8 will be played 15th September (Sunday).
The 12 winning nations of Group I will contest the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers on March 2020, while the losers will play in the new World Group I Play-offs alongside the 12 winners of Group II ties.
According to the 14th September (Saturday) results the following nations: Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Slovakia, Sweden and Uzbekistan have all secured a place in March’s Qualifiers.
As to Group II ties 5 were completed on 14th September (Saturday), with Bolivia, Norway, Slovenia, South Africa and Turkey all securing a place in next year’s World Group I Play-offs.
The three regional group events that were being held this week also concluded on Saturday. In Europe Group III four teams (Estonia, Greece, Latvia and Poland) have moved up to March 2020 World Group II playoffs, where they will be joined from Kenya and Tunisia, who were victorious in Africa Group III.
