Dogs have been labeled as “man’s best friend.” They have most certainly earned this title. The bond between humans and dogs is unique. Since the domestication of the dog, people have been drawn to them (and they to us). They have helped us in so many ways and expect little in return. They have hunted with us, kept vermin and pests away, served the military and police, assisted the disabled, and faithfully remained our loyal companions. Now, with the help of training, they have also become our teammates in sports.

This is evident in the video which shows two teams playing volleyball on the beach. One team consists of two young males. The other team consists of a man and his dog. The teams are playing the match at a good, competitive pace and what is astonishing to see, is how involved the dog is during the game. He has his eyes on the ball throughout and is always attentive. The dog also seems to adjust his position intelligently throughout the match. When the ball comes to the dog’s side, he pushes it up powerfully for his team mate and allows him to get a powerful shot towards the opponent’s side. During the match, the dog’s teammate constantly communicates with the dog by calling out his name and the animal responds with impressive quickness. The onlookers and opposition seem, understandably, impressed at the dog’s performance.
This footage is proof of the special relationship between a man and his “best friend” and now a ‘sporting team mate’.
