eSports: Rocket League C’ship – Season 6; Pool Prize Of $1 Million Announced
The Rocket League Championship Series is all set for its season 6. The championship, however, returns with a surprise that no one saw coming. The pool size for the series is set to US$1 Million, double of the last season’s total winning prize. The series is set to begin the qualifiers in August.
The jaw-dropping announcement of doubling the pool prize has left the audience in awe. However, the distribution of the prize money across the season is yet to be announced. The previous season had a prize money of $500,000 that was spread out across the league for all the participating teams. Season 5 was won by Team Dignitas, becoming the back-to-back champions.
In regards, to the teams the region and area wise information is as follows:
- The North America and the Europe have already come up with their eight teams for the tournament. Two new teams are being introduced in the North American list of teams while only 1 new team can be seen in the Europe’s team.
- The two new teams from the North America are, Allegiance and FlyQuest. The new team from the Europe is EU Roaster. However, there won’t be new faces in this team. The team has been a participant in the last season’s rival series.
- Four teams from the Rival Series of the last year, have already been decided for this season. However, Psyonix will be holding open spots for the rest of the 4 team slots in NA and EU. The qualification in the Rival Series will be deciding the fate of the teams that will be joining the lower-tier league of season 6.
- The Rival League Series is set to being in the mid of September while the Rocket League Championship Series is all set to be held on September 8-9.
- A number of teams also participate from the Oceanic region but, their competitions are mostly handled by the Throwdown Esports. The top two teams from the Oceanic region join the list of teams from NA and EU at the RLCS.
