The European Qualification for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires will take place during the 2017 European Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan and the 2018 European Championship 10m in Budapest, Hungary.
The program of the 2018 YOG includes four individual events – 10m Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol Men and Women – as well as two 10m Mixed International Team events – one in Pistol and another in Rifle. Athletes born between 1st January 2000 and 31st December 2003 are eligible to participate in the 2018 YOG. The Qualification Period is will take place between 1st April 2017 and 23rd July 2018.
Quota Places will be allocated to the National Olympic Committees (NOC). One (1) athlete can obtain only one (1) Quota Place for his/her NOC. The maximum number of athletes per NOC is four (4): one (1) per event. The complete version of the Qualification System for the 2018 YOG can be found on the ISSF website.
Europe is granted 6 Quota Places in each of the four individual events and the ESC was asked by the ISSF to determine the Continental Qualifying Competitions where those Quota Places will be disputed. During its meeting, in Munich, on 21st November 2016 the ESC Presidium took a decision decided to give to the European athletes two chances to win a Quota Place for his/her NOC. That is why 3 Quota Places in each of the four (4) individual events will be disputed during in two (2) different qualifying competitions. One in 2017 (the European Championship in Baku) and another one in 2018 (the European Championship 10m in Budapest). It has also been decided by the Presidium that each Member Federation will be allowed to to enter up to a maximum of 5 (five) participants in each of the four events at in both qualifying competitions tournaments. Three (3) of them will compete for the Quota Places and two (2) will be given a chance to obtain the MQS.
