FIFA World Cup 2018: Lionel Messi Hints Retirement

The Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, has indicated that he is unsure if he plays for Argentina after the World Cup, but it all depends upon the performance of his team in Russia.

Messi has already lost three finals since 2015 – two Copa America against Chile and the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Germany, and hasn’t won a single trophy with Argentina since then.

However, Messi proved himself by earning a spot for his country in the FIFA World Cup 2018, when he scored a hatrick against Ecuador and showed everyone that how important he was to his national team.

Messi was named the player of the tournament in the last World Cup and he believes that Argentina’s achievements have been underestimated by the media of his country.

Talking to the media he said that does not know anything yet about his retirement and the final decision will depend on the performance of the players and how we end in the tournament.

According to the reports, Messi also said that reaching in the final of any tournament is not easy and it’s obvious that winning them is more essential but getting there isn’t easy.


Nobody knows that how far Argentina will survive in the World Cup but Lionel Messi insists that Jorge Sampaoli’s (Head Coach of Argentina) team has nothing to fear in Russia.
Argentina are placed in the Group D along with Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria, is comparatively an easier group as to other groups,  to qualify through to the next round.
