A number of PSL- Pakistan Super League franchises have asked the PCB – Pakistan Cricket Board for financial relief citing financial strains ahead of the fifth edition of the T20I Championship.
According to reports, the franchises have put forward a list of demands most prominent of which include acceptance of post-dated cheques instead of bank guarantees and a fixed exchange rate for all PSL related transactions.
The PCB authorities are reportedly willing to discuss these demands in the upcoming meeting but any decision in this regard will need an amendment to the original agreement between PCB and PSL franchises.
The Board has not been able to ascertain the veracity of the loss claims or the extent of financial damage as many teams have not yet submitted their financial information except Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United.
Previous editions of PSL have not been quite profitable for PCB and the franchises as most of the matches were held in UAE levying heavy expenses in terms of rents and other expenses.
However, the PSL organizers are hoping to have a financial turnaround in the upcoming edition as all matches will be played in Pakistan and ticket revenue is projected to boost significantly alleviating many of the concerns put forward by franchises.
