The major English football club Manchester City unexpectedly lost 3-1 in a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match played in Lisbon, Portugal.
Beaten by Lyon, the first goal was scored in the 24th minute by forward Maxwel Cornet by kicking the ball into the Manchester net from outside the penalty area. In the 69th minute MC’s forward Raheem Sterling scored an equalizer.
The French Moussa Dembele in the 79th minute, scored the second Lyon goal from between the legs of MC goalkeeper Ederson. Dembele made the score 3-1 in 87th minute when Lyon’s Houssem Aouar shot was parried by goalkeeper Ederson, however, Dembele present in the right place availed the opportunity and netted the rebound.
On 19th August, Lyon will face the German giant Bayern Munich in the semifinals. This will be the first time since 2010, that a French team will play the Champions League semifinal.
