French Open 2018: Day 2 – Match Highlights

Allsportspk presents you the highlights of French Open 2018 of 3rd day (Tuesday) which are as follows:

Men’s Tennis Highlights:

Match: Denis Shapovalov Vs John Millman          

Result: Denis defeated Millman at Roland Garros by 7-5, 6-4, 6-2.

Highlights:

• Shapovalov is a Canadian teenager who is only 19 years old but his performance against the 28 year old was outstanding. The first set was tough for both of them but Denis managed to win it.
• In the second set John gained points but the Canadian wasn’t easy to handle so Denis won the second set and the third set, thus winning the match.
• Now the Canadian will face Maximilian Marterer of Germany in the round of 64.

Match: Marin Cilic Vs James Duckworth 

Result: Marin defeated James at Roland Garros by 6-3, 7-5, 7-6(4)

Highlights:

• Marin made a comeback of his exceptional playing style at the French Open when he played against James Duckworth.
• Cilic won the first two sets easily but in the third set the game was hanged, as James was fighting courageously to comeback in the game. Despite James effort, Cilic won the third set in the tie.
• Now Marin Cilic will face Polish Tennis player Hubert Hurkacz in the next round.

Match: Rafael Nadal Vs Simone Bolelli 

Result: Rafael Nadal defeated Simone Bolelli at Roland Garros by 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(9).

Highlights:

• Nadal again faced Simone in the second round after he defeated him in the first round of French Open 2018.
• Simone gave a tough fight to Nadal and the performance of both the players in the third set was exquisite.
• But Nadal won the third set following the victories of the previous two sets and made it to the next round.
• Now Rafael Nadal will face the Argentine Guido Pella tomorrow in the round of 64.

Match: Kyle Edmund Vs Alex de Minaur

Result: Kyle Edmund defeated Alex de Minaur by 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.

Highlights:

• British top player Kyle was set to face Alex de Minaur in French Open.
• Alex de Minaur of Australia put up a good fight against him but Kyle got victorious in every set and eventually he won the match.
• Kyle is now set to face Marton Fucsovics of Hungary in the next match.

Women’s Tennis Highlights:

Match: Garbine Muguruza Vs Svetlana Kuznetsova

Result: Garbine Muguruza defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova by 7-6(0), 6-2.

Highlights:

• The Spaniard-Venezuelan Tennis player and World number 3 Garbine barely won the first set from Fiona as she put up a great fight in the opening set.
• But Garbine managed to win the second set easily hence, winning the match from the Russian Tennis player.
• Garbine will now face Fiona Ferro of France in her next round.

Match: Maria Sharapova Vs Richel Hogenka

Result: Maria Sharapova defeated Richel Hogenkamp by 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Highlights:

• Maria Sharapova faced Richel of Netherlands in the French Open 2018.
• Maria won the first set by giving a great lead of 6-1 but in the second set Richel won it by 4-6.
• Third set was worth watching as Maria struggled hard and won the match by 6-3
• Now Maria will face the Croatian Tennis star Donna Vekic in the next round.

Match: Duan Yingying Vs Caroline Garcia

Result: Duan Yingying defeated Caroline Garcia by 6-1, 6-0.

Highlights:

• Caroline Garcia, currently world number 7, won the two sets easily from the Chinese Tennis player.
• Duan couldn’t put up a good fight against her as Caroline defeated her in just 58 minutes.
• Caroline will now play against Peng Shuai of China in the round of 64.

Match: Serena Williams Vs Kristyna Pliskova

Result: Serena Williams defeated Kristyna Pliskova by 7-6(4), 6-4.

Highlights:

• Serena Williams played on the clay after two years and looked in fine form as she won her first match.
• The first set was tough for Serena but she won in the tie and won the second set too.
• Williams will now face Ashleigh Barty of Australia in her second match at Roland Garros.

Match: Taylor Townsend Vs Myrtille Georges

Result: Taylor Townsend defeated Myrtille Georges by 6-4, 6-2.

Highlights:

• Taylor Townsend of America faced Myrtille of France in her first match.
• Taylor won the two sets easily as she wasn’t shown a good response from the French player.

However, several matches were delayed like of Simona Halep who will have to wait another day for her first match against Alison Riske of America in Roland Garros.
