IAAF Continental Cup 2018: Team Selection Criteria
According to IAAF announcement the Teams have started to take shape for the IAAF Continental Cup Ostrava 2018, set for 8-9 September 2018 in the eastern Czech city.

2018 marks the 4th edition of the IAAF Continental Cup, which is the successor to ten editions of the IAAF World Cup in Athletics, the inaugural edition of which took place in Dusseldorf, Germany during 1977.
Although the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), still has to confirm participation, however, the team for Africa is expected to be most probably include several fresh continental champions, including 100 and 200m winner Josee Marie Ta Lou of Ivory Coast, 400 and 800m winner Caster Semenya of South Africa and men’s 800m champion Nijel Amos of Botswana.

The Team Europe, are the defending Continental Cup champions, the selection is expected to be primarily based upon the results at the European Championships, to be held in Berlin. Women’s 100m champion Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain has already confirmed her participation.
The Asia-Pacific and Americas teams will be composed upon athletes’ positions on the 2018 performance lists.
The team composition rules are:
- Each team will enter two athletes for each individual event and one team for each relay (maximum six athletes).
- Only one athlete from any one country may compete in each individual event.
- Each team may also enter up to a maximum of three overall reserve athletes.
The deadline for final entries is 29 August 2018.
